Man From The South
The Man From The South is an interesting, but rather strange story. It is about 2 people betting on weather the lighter can light up 10 times in a row or not. One of the man puts up his Cadillac and the other puts up his left pinky finger. The story is taking place in Jamaica
In the short story "Man From The South", I think that there are many elements for a short story. In this story, the setting takes place at 6:00pm in Jamaica, because as said in the introduction, "I'd buy myself a beer and go out and sit in a deck chair by the swimming pool and have a little evening sun." And as a class, we had figured out that the story had taken place in Jamaica. I think that the conflict of this story was the little man and the boy who were betting. The rising action begun when the man came and had seen the boy light up his lighter in the wind and wanted to bet him, and all 4 of them go up to the hotel room and start to commence the bet. The Climax as when the boy gets until the 8th light, and an older South American comes in and stops the man. The falling action is when the women tell the boy that the man has been betting for a really long time and that after a really long time, she has taken everything he has with the bets., and when they see her hand, they see she only has one finger and her thumb left.
